At SQM, quenching is carried out immediately after austenitizing treatments, with precise control over media type, agitation, and temperature to meet specific hardness and distortion requirements. We support oil, water, and polymer-based quenchants, selecting each based on alloy composition, section thickness, and critical cooling rates. Typical applications include carburized 16MnCr5, quenched and tempered 42CrMo4, and through-hardened bearing steels.

Components are loaded into dedicated fixtures to minimize deformation, and cooling curves are logged to ensure repeatability across production batches. Post-quench hardness typically reaches 58–64 HRC, depending on the steel grade and cooling severity. For complex geometries or tight tolerances, we apply interrupted or staged quenching methods to reduce internal stress.

Dimensional control, microhardness testing, and metallographic analysis are available on request.
